Our data reveals Brits are purchasing more street party essentials ahead of the long bank holiday
Over 800,000 units of alcohol sold in the four weeks preceding the King Charles’ Coronation across one major British supermarket, with shoppers 110% more likely to purchase on the weekend.*
In particular, spirit sales soared over the first May bank holiday weekend, with a sales increase of 117% comparative to the previous week as we inch closer and closer to the Coronation.
The North West topped the charts for the most alcohol sold across one major supermarket in the build up to the Coronation (78,855 total units sold), with London in second (70,906 total units sold), and Scotland just after (70,623 total units sold).
As the cost of living crisis still beckons, alcoholic beer inflated in price week by week in the four week preceding period, with the average price per unit in week four being £5.81, a 3.27% increase on week one’s £5.63/unit.
